This post is going to be massive. Mainly because there's so many good photos to share from my recent shoot with Gilbert's Social in Jacksonville.
When Chef Kenny Gilbert invited me to shoot the food and restaurant interiors for his new Southside restaurant concept, I practically jumped out of my seat. Not only am I a huge Chef Kenny fangirl (going back to the days of Top Chef Season 7) but I'm a huge fan of his food. Chef Kenny has a background in fine dining, which explains the insane flavors and polished, yet whimsical, presentation and execution of his Southern-inspired plates.
He's got it all: talent, humility, creativity, and passion. I'm putting my money on Gilbert's Social becoming one of the most celebrated and awarded restaurants in Jax.
Chef Kenny poses for a quick portrait just before staff training begins. I love the design of the new space - it's approachable, comfy, and roomy.
Love the art chosen for the dining room. A mixture of awesome food quotes and Southern sayin's. I managed to get some behind-the-scenes photos of Chef Kenny cutting up some of Gilbert's famous brisket.
Gilbert's Social delicious sides all ready for their close-ups.
Beautiful, light and fresh: strawberry and watermelon salad is a celebration of summer.
Getting that gorgeous brisket ready for plating.
Gilbert's Social offers five types of Sangria to pair with any diner food choice.
Unique interior design details adorn the dining room.
Now that is a masterpiece!
Gilbert's famous "burnt ends" sandwich. Soon to be a classic!
A lovely southern pecan pie with chocolate chips, bourbon, and a perfect crust.
Gilberts delicious house-made barbecue sauces. You'll gotta try them all!
Time out for a quick staff portrait.
I can't remember what I said, but I guess it was funny!
This is the dish that's going to cause a stir in the Jax foodie scene: Southern-inspired ramen. It is inexplicably good!
